Error setting up aliases

Hi,
I'm working on a development system that contains a few different projects. To make all the projects available from Apache, I'm attempting to set up some aliases. As an experienced apache user (usually UNIX systems), I thought I'd have no problems adding a few aliases.
My approach was to copy the phpmyadmin.conf in the aliases-folder and edit the alias and paths, then add the file as an include in httpd.conf and restart apache. It doesn't work even though it's just copy/paste from the existing lines/files followed by a little editing to fit the actual paths.
To find out why it didn't work, I commented out the two Includes in the bottom of httpd.conf, restarted apache and tried getting to phpmyadmin and sqllitemanager. They work even though they are commented out. Next, I tried renaming httpd.conf to something else and restarting apache to verify that I'm using the right httpd.conf. Doing that, apache fails to start, so I've found the right configuration to edit, but old includes work even though commented out, and new includes doesn't work.
What am I missing?

use the wamp tray icon menu to manage alias
