program loading confusion

I'm having a problem deciding where to load wamp on my computer.
I have a 275 g external hard drive (F) where I keep the various web sites I am working with.
- Can the 'wamp' folder be on my "F" drive rather than my "C" drive.
- Do any sites that use PHP have to be in the 'wamp/www' root folder.

I know it's just me, but I'm confused as to how to use the program(s) with multiple sites.
Can anyone help, . . . . . in simple terms.

it ain't easy, JH

windows see and assign external drive as F, but apache won't see it that way; another words, it's not simple as you thought, even apache can be setup in any partition as long as they're internal, and different way to setup if the drives are external

Have fun,
