I have been trying to get this to work for quite some time now vista is my only option at the moment or believe me I would be on XP but this website is critical to many people so if anyone could help I would realy appreciate it. It is a new install. It worked at first then all the sudden stopped working. Very wierd no viruses or anything but it only worked for a very short time. Mysql is working because I can connect to it through navicat but apache wont work is there something I am missing here others have said they got it working on vista. but now I am screaming and pulling my hair out and very desperate going on 5 days nows and I am getting a lot of heat about the site not being up. Can anyone help?

First I tried IIS 7 in Vista, I installed the zip version of php 5.23 and the msi version of mysql 5.043 with no success so I uninstalled php mysql and IIS 7. Then I tried wamp5 v 1.7.2 that didn't work so I ununstalled it. Then I tried xamp and that failed as well of course I uninstalled that one too . last I tried another version of wamp called wdsetup-v1.95.exe. The weird thing is that the php pages will display as long as they have no reference to mysql connection but as soon as a script comes up with a mysql_connect function apache crashes and restarts. I have tried to find a stray my.ini or my.cnf or rememnants of previous mysql installations even in the registry and can't find anything. I have also tried to remove all old PHP_mysql.dll files as well as old libmysql.dll files etc still no luck.

Well it seems I have found my own solution there were some issues with my host files and a failing network service. I turned off the faing service, I had to refresh the ip detection for the local area connection and get comcast to do a reset on the modem, then I had to push the reset button on the back of the modem. then I had to restart internet explorer. All is well now.
