Running WAMP on a box where I have no admin rights

Hi All

I am currently stuck on a box where I have no admin rights, I have managed to circumvent some of the lock down and actually got WAMP installed.

Problem is windows will not let me register the services!!

I was wondering if there is a way to run WAMP in application mode instead ?

Thanks in advance ;-)

you can just start and stop wamp manually.

Not really, starting manually assumes the services have been installed, I am unable to install the service.

I assume this makes it unable to run since WAMP requires the registering of services :-(

So you might want to compile all apache, mysql, php, so on by yourself or might consider some other package such as uniform which has no registry and installation, just unpack and use, but remember, this wamp package in this forums is the most easy one for add-on apps such as ftp server, mail server, forums, shopping cart, so on

you dont have to install apache and mysql as services to use them. installing them as services just means they will automatically start when you start your computer. if you dont install them as services then you start and stop them manually.

I think your problem is you don't have any privilege to install anything, so either run it in your own personal computer or politely ask admin to grant you the needed privilege, or if you don't like your admin, try "uniform server" which is just unpack and use as already mentioned above.
