MySql root password problems

I changed the MySql root password as shown using PHPmyadmin, although MYsql recognizes the password through the console, I can no longer start PhpMyadmin.

I did update the password in the php congfiguration file, and then the error is "MySql does not support this connection type".

Any ideas to get it to work in synchronization? I am using Windows Vista

Yes, I did restart the server (and all services). Did I miss something?

What file is it? List file name and its location. My best guess is you probably edit the wrong file

I just uninstalled from Drive D and reinstalled to drive "C" and it worked when I editied this file: C:\wampp\phpmyadmin\config.inc.php (same as before , but I installed mysql 4.5 before changing the pw).

I want to add the 4.5 version as well. Should I stop the servises?

Thanks for your help!

Richard

So you want to have 2 mysql in the same computer? I'm not quite sure about that even I'm having more than 1 mysql, to be exact 3, but on 3 different computers that setup as redundant servers, in which primary down, secondary kick in and take place, third one is just a backup and in worst case will kick in and take place if secondary down too.

Anyway, if you really want to have 2 mysql in same computer, I don't think you can get help for that subject in this forum but some where else.
