How to downgrade from PHP5.20 to PHP 5.12?

I have a mission critical extension that is compiled for PHP5.12. I of course, have PHP5.20 Is it a big deal to "downgrade" wamp? Can i just replace the PHP files, or do I need to reinstall from the ground up?
For anyone else having DLL compatibility issues, a GREAT and WONDERFUL tool to find out what isn't being loaded and why can be downloaded for FREE at [dependencywalker.com]. You just open the DLL in question, and it finds everything it is depending on, recursively! It saved my butt!
