My current server is running wamp 1.6.6 and I plan on migrating my web server to a new box using wamp 1.7.0. When I enable the the "ssl_mod", apache goes offline, not affecting anything else. If I reboot I get a "service failed to initiate" right at thw windows log in screen. I tried and can't get apache to start unless I disable the ssl_mod. I need this to run so i can use gmail with my message board. Thanks!
To setup ssl, you can't just simple enable it in config file, and I'm afraid you can't get help for that topic here because it's beyond wamp's purposes which is for developers, not for productions.
With all due respect, I think these forums are to help WampServer users, is it not? I too, have some SSL questions while using WampServer, and since it is an important part of the internet world, I don't see why WampServer users can't discuss it among themselves.
Thanks for expressing that concern, gdpodesta. I'm experiencing the very same problem that rabidjade posted about on 2/27/2007, but no one has contributed anything on this topic. I can't seem to be able to enable mod_ssl, even though I have placed this file in Apache2\modules. I have included the following line in my httpd.conf file:
LoadModule ssl_module modules/mod_ssl.so
That line causes Apache to not start.
Has anyone successfully made SSL work using the Apache package that comes with WAMP? We're using WAMP 1.6.4, which comes with Apache 2.0.58.
