I can't open PHPmyadmin 2.9.2

Hi, I'm VERY new to using WAMP. I just downloaded the latest version and installed it, everything as default.

I started the server and opened localhost, then when I try to click on PHPmyadmin to open it and configure my database I get the following error.

Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /phpmyadmin/ on this server.

How can I get into the database to configure it?

Thanks
Barley

Forgot to add, I'm running Windows 2k, and everything is set to default when I installed WAMP.

If I open localhost then I can see the normal WAMP page, and if I view the server externally I get the same page.

I really can't see why I can view localhost/index.php, but not phpmyadmin or sqlitemanager sad smiley

By default, phpmyadmin and sqlitemanager is NOT accessible by outsiders, and you should keep it that way for your own protection; however, if you're good in programming, read the codes and modify them to meet your need.

Have fun

What is this BS about "outsiders" when I am trying to run the software on a system I just installer and to which I have root privelege?

Hey, that message is not for you.

About v1.7.0, you have to log in and install as administrator, also make sure to enable port 80 in all firewalls and forward port 80 in router if using router. Remember, ZoneAlarm and some other infamous AV will give a very big hard time to setup wamp properly. Also, I'm not wamp's creator so I'm not quite sure, but based on what I've seen here so far, look like some people have problem w/ v1.7.0 on w2k because it's most likely intended for Vista.

Have fun

Check my other post.

WAMP 1.7.0 installs with rules to allow ONLY 127.0.0.1 (localhost) to see the pages as default. They messed-up though and are using a version of Apache that doesnt return the IP of visitor correctly.

Result is that you cant allow/disallow based on IP as everyone appears to be from IP 0.0.0.0

Check my post on here for more info:

I'd advise a simpler option until the devs make a "fix" release...
....roll-back to a previous version of WAMP that is capable of getting the visitors IP.

IP-Based security in the current version (2.2.4) of Apache is non-existant... for now.

OK, let's say this is a very stupid question: are you trying to access phpmyadmin and sqlitemanager in the same computer that installed wamp or from outside your LAN?

If from outside, I've already posted that they are by default set for the machine that has wamp installed only, but if you're good in programming, read and edit the code to meet your need.
