WAMP has really saved my bacon and got me promoted. What I would really like to do is install WAMP on a thumb drive for demos and disaster recovery. Has anyone had any luck with this?

Thanks

when you insert your thumb drive into your usb port, windows automatically creates a drive letter for the thumb drive so you can access it. When I insert my drive, my system sets that drive letter to drive J:

you can install wamp on a thumb drive, but you will have problems running apache, mysql, etc if the computer you are using to test it with sets your thumb drive to a different drive letter.

For example, on my computer, my thumb drive is on drive J:, so this line in my apache httpd.conf file ( located in J:\WAMP\Apache\config\httpd.conf ) looks like this:
ServerRoot "J:/wamp/apache2"

that will cause problems if the test computer you are using does not use the same drive letter. wamp to work because all the configs for wamp, apache, mysql, etc, are set for my J:/ drive.

I've installed the package on my stick and have used it on several different computers. The drive letter is an issue, but you can get around it by reading [support.microsoft.com]
I followed instructions and it worked fine - now my USB drive is at I: on all my machines.

WAMP is really good, I have it running at my dev desktop, but I'm using Mov'AMP at my stick when I need to show some project around. Mov'AMP don't have all WAMP stuff but works fine for my needs, just the basic stuff (Apache + PHP5 + MySQL + phpMyAdmin). [www.movamp.net]

Hope it helps.
