mySql Administrator

After authenticating to the Administrator tool utility, I get the following error msg:

Either the service or the configuration file could not be found. Startup variables and service section are therefore disabled.

What's this about and how do I fix it?

TIA

Huh........... What do you mean "After authenticating to the Administrator tool utility"? Do you mean already see a similar screen like the one in the link below, then get the error?

By "authenticating" I mean the login dialog for "Connect to mySql Server instance". After I click OK, I get a msg box error msg (see first thread). Once I click OK to that msg box, I'm inside mySql Administrator, just like the screenshot you referenced.

I simply want to know what the cause and remedy to that message is.

The problem is that wampserver renames the MYSQL5 instance, and so the administrator is not able to find it. To solve the problem, you need to add the following lines to your .....\wamp\mysql\my.ini file:

[mysqld]
port=3306

and voilá, you have your administrator back again.

cheers

Thanks! That does eliminate that particular problem.

However, connecting to the server instance via MS Terminal Services connection, a new error message now appears, but only after the first initial load of the Administrator:

Access violation at address 0042A60E in module "MySqlAdministrator." Read of address 0000004.

I click OK and the Administrator seems to load normally and without the original error message. The local machine instance I have of MySql doesn't yield that error, so mabye it's a conflict with TS.

Thanks again, though.

Rick
