MySQL connection problem

Hi,
I'm running Wampserver v. 1.6.5 with installed PHP v.4 an v.5. When I tried to connect to MySQL with php5 active everything is ok, but in case that php4 is active I can't connect to database. The error is this:
mysql_pconnect() [function.mysql-pconnect]: Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client
What on earth I'm suppose to do?
