hope this is a simple one:

installed wamp on a winxp: installs in a breeze.

go to the phpmyadmin from the tray and all is well. at this point i'm using a root with no password. i use the system for a day, set up a database and all is well. but the system is warning about the unprotected root and wants me to give it a password. i give it one. viola, i can't pull it up from the system tray anymore. the databases still connect when i enter the password in the dreamweaver fields, but how to get into phypmyadmin?

#1045 - Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)

where do i enter the password? how do i get access? i can log in via the mysql console, but that doesn't help.

but i have to wonder, if this crops up so often, why not just put it in the faq's? or is it already there and i missed it?

yep, it's there, but most people just go straight to forums, I guess
