Hi,
I'm not blonde!!! but ive just installed wamp on my windows pc and the localhost isnt working for the new PHP. I had IIS installed and when i clicked on localhost in the PHP control panel or manually type [127.0.0.1] it returned the 404 error page when i changed to [127.0.0.1] the windows server returned a page as it should. Because of this i uninstalled IIS, how does wamp overcome the default windows server technology? Do i need to install wamp in the Inetpub directory? I've followed the very simple setup instructions!

Its ok fellas I've sorted it.

For future reference:

Un-install windows IIS then wamp - reboot, then re-install wamp

you dont need to uninstall iis, just make sure it is not running when you are installing and starting/running apache. since iis is a webserver, it uses the same port as apache. it that port is being used, apache will not start.

also.... if you are running skype, it also uses the same port. so, make sure skype is not running while installing and running apache.
