php files being rendered as plain text

Hi there

I first found it odd that .php files weren't associated with any browser. Then I opened the www directory index.php and it displayed as plain text, except for the regular html stuff. I was then even more surprised that I couldn't find other cases like mine ingoogle or even this forum.

What could possibly be wrong? Wamp seems to be installed and running flawlessly.

don't open your files directly with your browser, open [localhost]

Actually I later found topics on this issue, but the problems were stated in such a confusing manner I couldn't get to it in time (and I was kinda desperate).
