Easier Way to Install WAMP

I am not sure why WAMP continues to rely on such old technology. It's time to revamp the install and make it easier for people. I enjoy WAMPs system tray and the functionality that comes with it. It makes it simple to choose between versions, etc. When it comes to ease of use from an install perspective, XAMPP has us beat.

Isn't about time to start using today's technology to ensure the installation isn't so cumbersome?

Wampserver uses InnoSetup, which is hardly what you would call "old technology"!

There's nothing stopping you from using XAMPP.

However, Wampserver always uses the latest versions of PHP (8.5.0), MySQL (9.5.0), MariaDB (12.1.2) and Apache (soon to be 2.4.66), while allowing you to use almost any older version.

It’s definitely a bit of a headache when the green icon won't show up after an update. One thing that usually fixes this is checking if another service like Skype or IIS has grabbed Port 80 in the meantime - it happens more often than you'd think!
If your ports are clear, you might want to try the "Service Administration" menu for both Apache and MySQL and select "Install Service" for each. Sometimes the update doesn't automatically re-register them with Windows, and doing it manually usually gets everything back in sync.
