WAMP website accessing images on a local disk - not under the webroot

I am wondering if i need to change/add lines in the httpd.conf? I am trying to get a WAMP website to show images. These images are on a local disk drive. If I open one of these images just using a browser the image displays OK. If I open the same image in a WAMP website the image does not display. Hence I think I need to alter somewhing in the WAMP configuration? Previous websites under WAMP have not used a local disk.
Any help would be welcome thank you.
WAMPserver, Windows, Apache 2.4.41, PHP 7.4
The disk is a LOCAL disk, not a network drive or share.
