I amhaving difficulty getting Wampserver 3.1.7_x86 to work.

My technical environment is an Apple Macbook Pro running OS X 10.14.4

I use a virtual machine application called Parallels Desktop. and have been running a 32-bit Windows 10 machine running as a virtual machine.

I have run the Wampserver installation as an Administrator and installed taking all defaults.

I have run the check_vcrdist.exe to confirm that all Visual C/C++ distributions have been installed.

I have checked to make sure that there is only one php.ini file and one my.ini file present on my system.

Apache version - 2.4.37
PHP version - 7.2.14
MySQL version - 5.7.24
Mariadb version - 10.3.12

The Wampserver icon is "orange".

Inspection of the php log does not indicate anything to be concerned about.

Inspection of the mysql log does not indicate anything to be concerned about.

There are no apache logs created.

The wampapache service is not running.

IIS is not installed.

Skype was uninstalled from the Windows machine.

My hosts file consists of two lines:
127.0.0.1 localhost
::1 localhost

Antivirus is turned off.

There are 4 errors appearing in the Windows Event Viewer related to Apache:

They are -
The Apache service named reported the following error:
>>> AH00015: Unable to open logs .

The Apache service named reported the following error:
>>> AH00015: Unable to open logs .

The Apache service named reported the following error:
>>> AH00015: Unable to open logs .

The Apache service named reported the following error:
>>> AH00015: Unable to open logs .

The wampapache service is installed but has no status.

I feel like I have exhausted my troubleshooting steps.

Help is appreciated.

Jim P.

Hi,

> The wampapache service is not running.

Trying to troubleshoot a Wampserver installed on a Windows 10 in a virtual machine, itself installed by Parallels Desktop on a MacBook with OS X as the operating system, is not something common or even seen before.
However, since the Apache service does not start, there are several things to see that can be seen with the tools integrated in Wampserver, even if the icon is not green.

- Right-Click -> Tools -> Check httpd.conf syntax

- Right-Click -> Tools -> Test port 80

Also check that the wamp/logs/ and wamp/tmp/ folders exist and are writable. Create them if necessary.

I determined that port 80 is used by a process called "System".
I could not determine how to get around that issue so after searching the internet, I saw that changing to port 8080 resolved my problem. This is a development environment on a machine that typically will not have internet access, so I'm happy to say my issue is resolved.
Thanks for the pointers / tips.

Hi,

It would have been nice to have the full result of the port 80 test.

> I saw that changing to port 8080
I hope you have changed ports via the appropriate item in the Tools menu.
In this way the port is changed wherever it should be.

Hi,

If system is using port 80 then it is because IIS is installed and running or one of its sidekicks.

Uninstall IIS
