Did you have apache installed in your stytem before, then you need to completly delete it or unistall it. 2.)You need to make sure that your windows firewall is not preventing the wampserver. Make sure you give wampserver the first priory on port 80 for incoming calls, Otherwise it might not work.

you have windows 2k0 which has IIS. Since IIS is a webserver it uses port 80 which is the same port apache uses. You need to make sure IIS is not running or apache will not start

No matter how I set my firewall to permit programs, it would still not allow locahost to login (it always saw it as a threat). Just to try, turn off your firewall, and try seeing localhost. If it works, then you need to figure out how to configure your firewall to allow localhost to not be deemed as a threat.

I have Zone Alarm Pro firewall on WinXP Home Edt. w/sp2, and Windows Firewall enabled, and have apache and mysql working with no problems

You can configure apache and mysql in the program control section in the main Zone Alarm main window. You can find Program Control on the left side of the Zone Alarm main window, click on that tab. Now, make sure the Programs tab is selected.

Find the program Apache HTTP Server, and make sure the Trust Level has 3 bars next to it. And make sure there all all checkmarks on that line to allow everything. If there are any X, then edit edit it and change it to a checkmark.

Now find the settings for mysql-nt.exe, and set this the same settings you did for Apache HTTP Server.

I have, Norton Security's Firewall, and all of the mysql executables are listed in the programs to allow. I believe that Apache is also listed (I will double check tonight), but now that I have read that port 80 and port 8080 might need to also be listed, I will look at the software interface, and see if there is some way to allow ports.

I've yet to see anyone on this site list all the settings for Norton Utilities to allow WAMP to work without disabling the Norton Utilities. I wish I'd never had to, as now my box as Aurora on it as a result.
