WampServer

I hope this isn't a stupid questions...

I have set up virtual host as per the instructions. Everything seems to be working okay as I can go to localhost/myfolder/ and I can go to dev.mysite.com and view the same home page.

I'm have also installed the latest version of WP.

My question is, when I am at at the dev.mysite.com url (this is in my local environment) and I click on one of the links in the menu, it navigates me away to localhost/myfolder/my-slug/

Is this what is supposed to happen using the virtual host? If not - how do I fix this?

It was my understanding that from the virtual host if I am at dev.mysite.com and I click the about us link, then I should arrive at dev.mysite.com/about-us/.
