apache keeps closing

whenever i do anything with wamp, apache closes unexpectedly. well, its not really unexpectedly because it happens about 3 seconds after i press anything in localhost or phpmyadmin or anything like that. i have apache/2.0.55 (win32). it lets me go where i clicked but then apache dies once i get there. i just keep restarting it. does anyone else have this problem? better yet, can anyone help me with this problem? thanks.
