WampServer

Hi, Wampserver development team,

At least one other individual has posted this bug report before but the information they posted was sketchy at best. I've been using Wampserver for 18 months so I'm pretty familiar with its ins and outs.

After I upgraded from Apache httpd 2.4.34 to 2.4.37, there is now this error, shown by Tools -> Check httpd.conf syntax:

httpd.exe: Syntax error on lin 185 of C:/wamp64/bin/apache/apache2.4.37/conf/httpd.conf: Cannot load modules/mod_ssl.so into server: The specified procedure could not be found.

Just be sure it wasn't 3.1.4, I upgraded to 3.1.6 but it made no difference. Reverting to apache2.4.34 fixes the bug.

My best guess as a Linux developer is that there is a missing symbol in mod_ssl.so, but I leave it up to the experienced Windows developers to figure this one out.

Hi,

As you are now with Wampserver 3.1.6, a solution is to stay temporarily with Apache 2.4.34 and then remove Apache 2.4.37 :
Right-click -> Tools -> Delete unused version -> Apache 2.4.37
then quit Wampserver and reinstall the Apache 2.4.37 addon.

Another solution is to Restore the original libcrypto and libssl files of the apache version used:
In the folder wamp(64)/bin/apache/original_libcrypto_libssl/ choose and open the folder that corresponds to the Apache version used, for example apache2.4.37_x32 for Apache 2.4.37 32bit then copy the two dll files found there into the folder wamp/bin/apache/apache2.4.37/bin/ by overwriting the files or symbolic links found there.
Be careful with 32 or 64 bit versions.

I think I made the mistake by not updating to 3.1.6 *first*.

That's only the one who made the mistake - that is, me - who can know that you have to update to 3.1.6 before switching to Apache 2.4.37.

To this can be added another problem because ApacheLounge has released two versions of Apache 2.4.37 without changing the numbering, one on October 22nd and another on November 21st 2018.
It is the one of November 21 that is on Sourceforge and the secondary repository, but the one of October 22 has been there for some time.
