WampServer

Hello,
I just downloaded the last WAMP version on my windows 7 (starter) 32bits
(Small netbook running on Intel Atom Inside).
I made sure to complete all the necessary required steps before installing it.
In comparison to the previous version, it is much slowler to start and it finally runs only 2 services out of 3.
The icon remains orange. The only way for me to get the green icon is by clicking on "start all services".
What is the reason and the solution to avoid such problem?

Since MySQL works correctly, we will solve the problem by disabling MariaDB.
- Right-Click wampmanager tray icon -> Wamp settings -> Allow MariaDB to uncheck it
It will still be possible to reactivate MariaDB later.

Modify the c:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts file to leave only two lines :

127.0.0.1 localhost
::1 localhost

For your local sites, you must use VirtualHost

Thank you very much for your reply.

Regarding the file "hosts", I opened it with my code editor PSPad, I modified it as you said but I cannot save the changes.
It states: "Erreur lors de la sauvegarde du fichier "c:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts"."
I have similar problem if I try to save with "Bloc-notes" that states that I am not authorized to modify this file.

I do understand that this problem has nothing to do with Wamp, but I guess that you would know what to do.
On my side, I don't know what to do to solve this problem. Would you have the kindness to tell me the solution?

I do this, but there are other ways.

Start a command window using `Run as Administrator`
CD into the folder containing the HOSTS File > cd c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc

at the command prompt enter > notepad hosts
this will allow you to edit and save the HOSTS file.

If you have access to a better editor, which means any other editor use that instead of notepad.

Thank you for your reply. I managed to edit and save the hosts file as you suggested. This is great.

Then, I uninstall wamp and I reinstalled from scratch. The icon was still orange and I unticked "Allow MariaDB"

After unticking "Allow MariaDB", I had a few appearances of the "invite de commande" that disappeared after a while.
Then an error message from "Aestan Tray Menu" stated:
"Could not execute menu item (internal error)
[EAccessViolation] Access violation at address 0046551A in module
'wampmanager.exe'. Read of address 00746576"

Is it a big problem?

The wamp icon is now green. This is great!
The "Allow MariaDB" is unticked. This is fine for me. I use only MySQL, anyway.
... But...

Yes it is OK.

Apache is very talkative in its log file, but, what matters is this: "AH00354: Child: Starting 64 worker threads."

As for MySQL, it should be the only three lines in the log file, they correspond to the creation of the files necessary for the proper management of MySQL.

So, everything is going well in the best of all worlds. Go ahead and do it.
