This is more likely to be a mariaDB specific question. We do not support Apache/MySQL/mariaDB/PHP, so not really a question for us.
My guess, from the information you give us is:
mariaDB automatically caches results for a short time. It sounds like this is what you are noticing.
My gut feeling is that if you mess with this it will just cause you other issues somewhere else, but I would start looking at the
mariaDB documentation to see if my guess is anywhere near the mark.
