WampServer

Hi everyone

this is my first post.

I already read the stickies but I am having a problem upgrading wamp server on the same computer.

Ok I stopped/removed all wamp services from my old 3.06 version and renamed the folder from c:\wamp64 to c:\wamp64.old.

I have installed the new version wamp 3.1.0 into c:\wamp64.

Then I am using the following link to upgrade to migrate my old data.

In there it says to do this:


Apache: copy \wamp_old\bin\apache\apachex.y.z folder to \wamp\bin\apache\apachex.y.z

PHP: copy \wamp_old\bin\php\phpx.y.z folder to \wamp\bin\php\phpx.y.z

MYSQL: copy \wamp_old\bin\mysql\mysqlx.y.z folder to \wamp\bin\mysql\mysqlx.y.z


When I try to copy Apache: copy \wamp_old\bin\apache\apachex.y.z folder to \wamp\bin\apache\apachex.y.z the copying process is stuck on copying icutdt57.dll

No services wamp are running and cannot find this dll anywhere.

What am I doing wrong?

An update program allows you to update without changing the user parameters.
So, Wampserver3 update 3.1.1 updates your Wampserver 3.0.6 without you having to do anything other than run - as an administrator - that update program.
It doesn't change anything about the Apache, MySQL or PHP versions you use.
If you want to change Apache, MySQL, PHP or add MariaDB later on, simply use the "addons":

There, you embarked on a complex procedure that was not applicable.
Return to your original version 3.0.6, then upgrade to version 3.1.1 and, if necessary, add the Apache, MySQL or PHP versions you want.

It is noted that, with regard to update 3.1.1:
UPDATES
-- Wampserver 3.1.1 32/64 bit x86_x64 (Cumulative Update.)
You are strongly encouraged to apply this update. This is a cumulative update. There is no need to apply the old updates 3.0.1 to 3.1.0 before applying 3.1.1. This update will be required to install the latest Apache, PHP, MySQL or MariaDB addons.

Sorry for the late reply. Thank you for your reply.

OK I have installed the 3.1.1 update then installed Redistributable Visual Studi 2017 and the addons for apache, phpmyadmin and mysql.

I installed the as service for apache and mysql, switched to the correct version and wamp64 gives me a green light.

The problem I have now is the following:

When I try to go to localhost, phpmyadmin or eslse I get the following error message:

Could not execute menu item(internal error) [exception] Could not execute run action: The system could not find the file specified.

???

I am stumped.

Any ideas?

I just fixed my problem by following this article:

WAMP is trying to open your browser, but the directory in the settings is not correct. It could be that your browser is now located somewhere else. To fix this:

Edit the file wampmanager.conf inside your wamp direcotry.
Replace the full file path under the [main] section for the navigator parameter
Save the file
Right-click on the wamp icon and select refresh
Try it now
