Adding alias directory

Hi!
I'm having troubble adding an alias directory.
I figured it's either because the path to the directory has 'spaces' in it..
like C:/my alias directory/ or that the directory I'm trying to add is on a local server computer wich is mapped to a harddrive.

After I add the alias the Apache service won't start and therefore there are no entries in the error.log either... sad smiley

edit: forgot to mention that I'm running win XP pro and WAMP5 1.6.1

Uninstall WAMP5 1.6.1 and load version 1.6.0 - I had heaps of trouble with Apache not running and the problem faded away as soon as I uninstalled and loaded the older version.

Stop telling peope to use an older version of WAMP, that is not the problem. If your alias is nto set correctly, apache will not start. It is not an apache error or WAMP problem. Apache is designed to work that way.

Alias Directive - Apache 2.x Documentation
[httpd.apache.org]

I would not use folders with spaces, or to access them you would have use
http://localhost/my%20alias%20directory to acces that folder.

Also remember when you edit your httpd.conf file, you need to restart apache for the new settings to take effect.

CyberSpatium:

Yeah, apologies in this case - didn't read the question properly and simply saw another problem, so Nate: pay no attention to my bogus solution.
