server runs fine, however can't access externally

basically, i can access [localhost], and everything is fine. but when i enter my IP, then i get a 'cannot be found' common problem i'm sure.

my guess is that the problem is with ServicePack 2. i know it cripples ports and such. i know not the detail of its full damage, but to my knowledge it pretty much blocks certain port numbers, if not outgoing servers in general. again, i don't know the extent of this.

so with that in mind, is there anyone out here that knows how to bypass SP2's crap? i'm sure there's goto be some (unofficial) patch or something? any help would be awsome, thankyou.

SP2 does not do anything to block your from accessing your computer using your ip address. Make sure you enter a correct ip address to access your site.

[your.ip.address.here]

the ip is correct. i have used wamp in the past on a different computer without SP2, and everything was fine. i could connect to the server from other locations.

I read there was another option to change for this...

on this page [www.wampserver.com]

6. I try to access to WAMP5 pages from outside of my local network and I am automatically redirected to 12.7.0.0.1.

This is caused by one of apache's directive: UseCanonicalName. Open your httpd.conf and replace this line

UseCanonicalName On

by

UseCanonicalName Off

Restart your apache service and everything should work.

Do you have any router or anti virus with firewall? If yes, make sure to enable port forward in your router as well as services in firewall of anti virus. In addition, disable firewall of sp2.
Hope this help ;-)

I have not had any problerms with Windows Firewall and SP2 blocking apache or mysql. It will ask you weather you want to allow it to access the internet when you start apache and mysql, just enable it, and you are ok.
