Aestan Tray Menu

Hi there,

I have had wamp server 3.0.6 on my PC for some time and has been working without problems. But mysteriously I tried to use it in the last couple of days and I am getting the following message:

Aestan Tray Menu Could not execute menu item (internal error)
[Exception] Could not execute the action: The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail

Having looked for a solution I have seen the most common one is to check the port Listen 80, but I can confirm that wamp server is regestered for use on port 80.

I am running w10 and wampserver v3.0.6 64Bit

does anyone know what is going on and how to correct please?

thanks

Hi,

There may be a conflict with software that has installed an older version of a VC ++ package.
You must reinstall all VC ++ packages and if it is already installed, validate repair. Remember that you must install the 32 bit AND 64 bit packages and do so as an administrator.
All packages are here http://wampserver.aviatechno.net/ in the section Visual C++ Redistribuable Packages.

You even have a zip file that contains all the necessary packages:
All Visual C++ Redistribuable Packages (x86_x64) (32 & 64bits)

Ho there,

Please see questions answered as requested

1 - Windows version used (Specify version number AND whether 32 or 64 bit)- Windows 10 Version 1607 for x64-based Systems (KB4022715)
2 - Version WampServer (Specify version number AND whether 32 or 64 bit) - WampServer Version 3.0.6 64bit
3 - Apache Version - 2.4.23
4 - PHP Version - 7.0.10
5 - MySQL Version - 5.7.14
6 - What color is the WampServer icon (in the notification area of the taskbar) - green

When all goes well it should be green, but it may be red or orange.

If the WampServer icon is NOT GREEN please ensure you have looked at these files :-
a - Apache error log
-- ( wampmanager -> Apache -> Apache error log )
-- ( wampmanager -> Apache -> Apache access log )
b - MySQL error log ( wampmanager -> MySQL -> MySQL log )
c - PHP error log ( wampmanager -> PHP -> PHP error log )

Depending on the error, one or all of the above may be empty so also look at
d - The windows event viewer
--- Windows Key + R to launch the run dialog then enter eventvwr.exe and press the OK button
--- - On the left side of the windows click 'Windows Logs -> Applications'
--- - Look for the names 'Apache Service' or 'MySQL' in the Source column which have a error symbol in the first column.

If you find any errors that you cannot fix for yourself please post the COMPLETE EXACT error message in your question.

7 - In the file c:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts, what are the active lines with the name [localhost] in them?
* Active means no # at the beginning of the line.
127.0.0.1 localhost
::1 localhost

If the WampServer icon is green:

8 - Do you have access to localhost (Homepage WampServer)? - yes ( but only by typing in to the address bar
8a - If so, is there an error message at the bottom of the page? - no

9 - Do you have access to phpMyAdmin? - yes but my databases are not there

10 - If you refer to an error message, please include the EXACT wording of the error in your post

Aestan Tray Menu Could not execute menu item (internal error)
[Exception] Could not execute the action: The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail

11 - If you use an Antivirus and / or Firewall, please include the names of these - kaspersky 17.0.0.61
12 - What is the full path to the installation of WampServer (eg D:\wamp\)- d:\wampServer
13 - If you have one or more Virtual Hosts defined, please show their definition(s)

apologies... I missed that

If this a cumulative update, should this file over write the exisiting installation? ie. thw executable file be run in that same folder as existing install?

thanks

Run it, and select the existing wamp fodler.

It will only update WAMPServer code and not the versions of Apache/MySQL or PHP
