I have an uncommon issue with WAMP.


I executed a piece of software called: FARBAR Recovery Scan Tool. Also known as FRST.


People from the security forum that recommended me FRST, supplied me a link with a text file called addition.txt allegedly to fix problems on my harddisk.

After this I cant start up WAMP. Icon is red.

In the log, after I pressed the fix button of FRST, I found adjustments of the register concerning WAMP.

log output:

wampapache => Kon service niet stoppen.
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\wampapache => sleutel is succesvol verwijderd.
wampapache => dienst is succesvol verwijderd.
wampmysqld => Kon service niet stoppen.
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\wampmysqld => sleutel is succesvol verwijderd.
wampmysqld => dienst is succesvol verwijderd.

translation of the dutch phrases:

Kon service niet stoppen: couldnt stop service
sleutel succesvol verwijderd: key removed succesfully
dienst is succesvol verwijderd: service removed succesfully

They now recommend me to reinstall WAMP, but I wonder if it is possible to change the register values back?

I have never seen a cleaner tool that did not cause more problems than it solves. You should be very careful using these tools.

This will probably fix the issue and add the registry key back.

Using the wampmanager menus do :-

(left click) wampmanager icon -> Apache -> Service Administration -> Install Service

If necessary you can also add the MYSQL service back in a similiar way

(left click) wampmanager icon -> MySQL -> Service Administration -> Install Service
