Multiple websites

What I want to do:
1. move wamp & phpmyadmin to another port, e.g. port 8080 & made these password-protected.
2. host several other public websites on the same port 80 on the same ip (I do that in IIS by modifying Host Header)
I tried to modify that 'Section 3: Virtual Hosts' in httpd.conf file, but no effect.
Anyone can help? Greatly appreciated.

Yes virtual hosts is the way to do it.
I read a great post last week on how to do it.
I'll see if I can find it.
One warning.
Dont host sites from your home computer.
It has poor performance.
