Hi guys,

I have a problem with WampServer, the little icon in my toolbar on my pc is staying yellow sad smiley

I don't know why its doing this today as it has been working fine all week without any problems and today when I come to do some work on it on my lunch break it don't work sad smiley

I have tried restart, stop and start, exit and re-open and even removing my usb (I have the portable plugin installed), but none of this has worked so I turn to a little help here if anyone could help please?

Thanks in advance,
Nath

I hope we get a response since mine has started to do the same thing. It was working one day and the next day, it shows yellow. I have no idea what to do. I've tried the same tricks you did.

I had tried a reboot (of course) and it didn't make a difference, but I just had to do another reboot and now it is back to normal. Strange.

And when it is yellow, can anyone tell me what it means...where to look for solution...anything????

Well I tried reboot and still no luck sad smiley I hope a member of staff or mod or someone can help us with this or I will have to start look at other software as I cant work with out this sort of program tbh sad smiley

Not 100% sure what the yellow means, but its something to do with apache or php not connecting I think. So basically you cant view your sites as there is nothing to read the code (I think, not sure but it should say on here in the readme or something)

the problem is most likely you guys set your system to auto update to both win and/or firewall/antivirus and after silent auto update, your wamp is blocked; that's why for any and every pc that I've been working on, I've always set manual update and only update what I really need; anyway, try to system Restore to go back to the date that your wamp still in good working condition

Are you talking about auto update of Windows firewall? I am using Win7 and I can't find the setting to unset updating of Windows firewall....does anyone know where it is?

Hi all!

I had problem like this on almost all Windows I used WAMP with. My probelm was Skype: it uses same port WAMP services need to start. Once I changed default Skype port, WAMP starts with no problem. You can also turn off Skype, then start WAMP and AFTER WAMP start Skype. Both work then.

Maybe you have another program (most likely it's also some communication application). Try turning off one by one and then restart WAMP. You'll see which makes conflict.

Hope this one solves it... Cheers!

if using skype, open skype > tools > options > advanced > connection and uncheck "use port 80..." then restart wamp then skype

The Skype change sounds like a good thought. I have made that and we will see if that solves it. Thanks

What do you mean by silent auto update? I have my PC set to auto update windows and avg as I need to keep them updated to stop virus etc etc.

Or do you mean auto update on wamp? if so how do I turn that off because I don't remember seeing any settings for that when I installed it. Also I can't really turn off my PCs auto updates for security so how can I fix it if that's the reason why it don't work?

Or can I just check my avg to make sure it ain't blocked wamp and if it has just add an exception again?

Thanks for the help

P.S. I don't have any voice programs on my work PC so its not skype or any others doing this to me

Got some more information to add to this if it helps, I keep getting this popup error if I left click the icon in the tray and click on restart or online/offline:

"Could not execute menu item (internal error)
[Exception] Could not perform service action:
The service cannot accept control messages at this time."

I have the exact problem with "Could not execute menu item (internal error)
[Exception] Could not perform service action:"

It appears to be related to the wampapache service not being "Started" but only being "Starting". I cannot Stop the service to Restart it. It seems locked up on something.

I have used WAMP with Apache/PHP/MySQL for 4 years and this is the 1st time it has broken and I cannot fix it. I have tried everything including rebooting the server, turning off AVG, triple-checking the config file settings (they have never been touched in 4 years).

I do not know if this has to do with an AVG auto-upgrade, or a Wordpress 2.9.2 upgrade or an All-in-1-SEO addin install.

Any help be be most appreciated. Thank you.

I can't really turn off my PCs auto updates for security
security for regular pc users but you are RUNNING a server, and for security for regular pc users, win/firewall update will block server activities to avoid harm to pc; thus, again, disable it and only manual update what you need

I have Win7x64 (although mine is Pro) as well and followed the instructions of a previous reply to prevent Skype from using port 80 and have had no further problems...try it
