phpMyAdmin user interface questions

Hello wamp specialists,

using wampserver on my pc, I can successfully run my own php files, including access to mySQL.
However, with phpMyAdmin 4.1.14 I need some basic help how to use it

(see screenshot here for the numbers (1) to (4)):

1.) when I click on <New>, then nothing seems to happen. Why ?
2.) when I click on <New>, then nothing seems to happen. Why ?
3.) Currently, the mySQL database table "d..." seems selected. As a result, all queries refer to this table.
But how do I change the focus to theother table called "fel..." ? To open the table "fel...", to display its fields, seems of no use.
4.) The table "fel..." has much more fields than just the field "Beispiel". "Beispiel" is not even the very first field. How do I scroll to see all columns ? When I use the scrollbar at the very right side of the browser window, then only the right side of the window (containing the queries) scrolls.

Who can help me ? - yours, Sonja

I woudl guess you would find the best help with this if you clicked the ? icon, this will take you to the phpMyAdmin documentation. That woudl be the best place to learn how to use phpMyAdmin.

Hello everyone,

thanks to RiggsFolly for your guess. Any other guesses (possibly a bit more specific ones ) ?

If I were allowed to dream, then I would wish a phpMyAdmin user interface which is spartanic instead of fancy looking, but intuitively usable instead of coming with a big manual without a single screenshot. (I did a search in the manual, but did not find the answers)

wampserver is a great product, but the documentation might not be its strongest point. That's why I help with a screenshot, so that everyone in the forum can SEE how to use it - thanks to a new answer - from YOU ?

So any new answers are highly apprechiated

Longing for your answers, yours Sonja

Hi Sonja

Actually if you think about it, WAMPServer is only the sum of its parts i.e.

Apache - for documentation see my signature
MySQL -for documentation see my signature
PHP - for documentation see my signature
phpMyAdmin - for documentation see my signature

The only other bit i.e. the WAMPmanager that sits on your System Tray is fairly obvious and also documented as it is in fact a product called "aestan tray menu"

If you prefer something more WINDOWS to use you could look to downoad and install MYSQL Workbench, thats what I use from preference when massing with MySQL database locally. However as phpMyAdmin is what you normally get from a hosting service it is a good idea the read their manual and get familiar with it.
