WampServer

Hello all,

WAMP has been running perfectly since I installed it years ago. I haven't used it in a number of months, and today when trying to navigate to any of my sites including localhost, I keep getting a 404 Not Found error.

It will successfully navigate to [localhost] phpmyadmin without issue.
Apache is using port 80 with no conflicts
WAMP icon is green
Both wampapache and wampmysqld are running within Windows Services
There hasn't been any changes to any files within wamp or within the host file, it just simply stopped loading localhost and all other sites.
I'm using the default file structure: C:\wamp\www\site1\

I'm on Windows 7 64x running WAMP 2.2.

If anyone could provide any insight I'd be greatly appreciative!

You are not giving us much to go on.

Have you checked the error logs and the windows event viewer!

Hi Riggs,

The error log says: [Wed Nov 23 21:19:29 2016] [error] [client ::1] File does not exist: C:/wamp/www/localhost

If I navigate to specific site, the error log doesn't relay the exact folder, it always says: [Wed Nov 23 21:19:29 2016] [error] [client ::1] File does not exist: C:/wamp/www/localhost ....without the folder name following.

What data would you like me to pull from the windows event viewer?

* active = without # at the beginning of the line

Okay, you say you did not change anything, but ... did you go to see if, in fact, nothing was changed in the hosts file?

Yes, I verified and rechecked, the host file is the same as it was with all sites active.

When you get this error,

what are you keyin in to the browsers address bar

In the address bar I type: [http://localhost/sitename]

Also, when navigating to localhost it throws a 404 but navigating to localhost/phpmyadmin it loads successfully.

I think in order to resolve this you are going to have to post your

1. hosts file

2. httpd-vhost.conf file

3. Specify any amendments you may have made to your httpd.conf file (or post it all if you have been amending a lot of it.

Also you should really be using Virtual Hosts to run more than one site see [forum.wampserver.com] it applies to any version of Apache not just new versions

WOW! That did it! Thanks Riggs! Some of the wordpress stylesheets aren't rendering but I can handle that. I'll move the sites over to Virtual Hosts.

In your opinion, should I investigate upgrading anything or continue with what I have?

Well Upgrading, I would always suggest yo upgrade, but read this first [Installing a new release of WAMPServer]

however it depends on whether you are using ancient versions of WordPress that need ancient versions of PHP.

So really only you can answer the upgrade question.
