I am new to WAMPSERVER, I installed WAMPSERVER 2.5 to install Wordpress locally, as I am developing Wordpress Sites.

My WAMPSERVER Icon is Orange
and I get the following error when I open PhpMyAdmin

OK the main problem is that the wampmanager icon is orange.

This should be GREEN when both the Apache and MySQL services have been started. So one of the services have not started. Looking at the logs it is Apache that is not starting.

However as you are getting as far as running phpmyadmin, Apache must be there!??!?!?!

So I assume you have another Apache running on your system, and maybe another MySQL.

This happens when people try to install WAMPServer after trying to install Apache/MySQL and PHP manually but do not properly and completely uninstall these previous attempts.



Have you attempted a manual install of Apache? Did you remove it all properly?
Have you also got XAMPP installed?
Do you have IIS Installed as that too is a web server?

I know that I do not have XAMPP installed manually but I did check and I see that I have IIS installed, but I never did download IIS and intall it, may have come with another Microsoft package that I downloaded.

MS recently seem to think its a good idea to install IIS without asking when you install the OS! So if you are not using it uninstall it, there are instructions for that on the internet.
