Hello Ladies and Gents,

I am having an issue with WAMP. I have read the troubleshooting thread and also the read this before posting thread. But it doesnt make much sense to me.

When i try to access phpMyAdmin I get the following error code come up.

"Error during session start; please check your PHP and/or webserver log file and configure your PHP installation properly. Also ensure that cookies are enabled in your browser.

session_start(): open(SESSION_FILE, O_RDWR)) failed: No such file or directory (2)"

The WAMP logo is also in orange now, instead of green.

Now it was all working fine till a couple of days ago. I was organising my site and about a quarter of the way through it.

I'm just at my wits end almost trying to fix this since no one is willing to help me from my SEO or the group I had purchased a theme from.

Can some one please help me fix this. What do i need to do and how do I do it?

Excuse my ignorance. I'm a complete n00b at this.

As you say that your wampmanager icon is orange then one of the services (wampapache or wampmysqld) is not running.
RED=Neither running
ORANGE=One Service not running
GREEN=Both Services running


As you appear to be able to run as far as adminer, I assue it is MYSQL that is not running


Please look at the MYSQL Error log using the menus

wampmanager->MYSQL->Error log

Then look at the last few lines of the file for anything resembling error messages.

If you cannot work out what is wrong, post them here and we will have a look.

No Errors came up after doing a Windows event viewer search for Apache or MYSQL.

Well now you need to look in the Windows Event Viewer to meesages from MYSQL that have been sent to that logging mechanism

WIndows key + R
Enter - eventvwr
Press the OK button

Wait a few second for the Event viewer to load

In the left menu column click `Windows Logs` -> `Application`

And look for the word `MYSQL` in the `Source` column

All i have are VSS, System restore and Perflib and Security-SPP under the Source column.

Maybe the MYSQL Server service did not get registered during the install.

Try this to re-register it

left click wampmanager -> MYSQL -> Service -> Install Service

Tried install service but it did nothing.

I have noticed that when I test the port for MYSQL it says port 3306 is not found to be associated with TCP protocol.

3306 is not found to be associated with TCP protocol.

Is the message you get when MYSQL has not started.
So we can assume MYSQL is not running.

We now just have to find out why not.

So first lets see if the service is correctly registered. Do

Windows Key+R
enter services.msc
Press the OK button

This will load the services snapin

Look down the `Name` column for either `wampmysqld` or `wampmysqld64` if one does exist then you probably ignored the requirements dialog that stated you needed to install all the required MSVC Runtime Libraries.
If so download and install this [wampserver.aviatechno.net]

I just paid for a web developer to have a look at it and we found that MYSQL got corrupted with the last windows update and a whole bunch of files went missing. They have got it all working again and restored most of the progress of my website.
I think it's time to just move to a cloud based system. So that way it is easier to access as well if I do ever need help.
