VirtualHosts not working in Microsoft Edge

Hi WampServer,

Thanks for the excellent software which I've been using for many years now.

In recent updates, a red warning is shown on the localhost page to encourage users to set up virtual hosts instead of using projects.

I followed the instructions as in the sticky "WampServer 3 All you need to know". All worked fine in Opera, Firefox, IE (11), Chrome and Safari, but Microsoft Edge tells me it can't find the page when I visit a virtual host.

I uninstalled and reinstalled WampServer (as there is no "undo" to setting up a virtual host) and started again, this time using the manual instructions as in the Sticky "The NEED for VIRTUAL HOSTS". Again all worked well except in Microsoft Edge (but at least this time I could undo the changes!).

Could you please let me know if this is a known issue and, if so, what I can do to resolve it? My software details are

Windows 10 version 1607, 64 bit
WampServer 3.0.6
Apache 2.4.23
PHP 5.6.25
MySQL 5.7.14
WampServer icon is green

With thanks and best regards,

Nicolaas

Hi,

Microsoft, in its wisdom, and for the safety of its users and security reasons, has, basic, prohibits local site access with Edge. (Bullshit !)

To enable loopback and debug your localhost server, launch Edge and type in the address bar : about:flags then there are some options like this:
Quote
Edge
Developer Settings

X Use the Microsoft Compatibility Lists
X Allow localhost loopback (this may expose your device to risks)
These two options must be checked.

Documentation Apache - Documentation PHP - Documentation MySQL - Wampserver install files & addons

Thanks Otomatic - that's a super-fast response!

Oddly enough your suggestion using about:flags doesn't work for me - but I found an answer on the French version of the forum. I opened a cmd window and used

CheckNetIsolation LoopbackExempt -a -n="Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe"

I know this should be equivalent to the more transparent flags approach...

Many thanks for your help!

Nicolaas
