I have a new computer and I'm installing WAMP for the second time on this computer, the first time it worked but it now I get the Orange

WAMP icon is orange. It was green, but I had to uninstall and reinstall WAMP and now it won't go green!

I'm using:

1 - Windows version used
I'm using Windows 7 64bit

2 - Version WampServer
2.5 64bit

3 - Apache Version 2.4.9

4 - PHP Version 5.5.12

5 - MySQL Version 5.6.17

There's nothing in the Apache, PHP or MySQL error logs,
However,
I am getting the following error messages in the Windows Event Viewer.

The Apache service named reported the following error:
>>> AH00015: Unable to open logs .

The Apache service named reported the following error:
>>> AH00451: no listening sockets available, shutting down

The Apache service named reported the following error:
>>> (OS 10048)Only one usage of each socket address (protocol/network address/port) is normally permitted. : AH00072: make_sock: could not bind to address 0.0.0.0:80 .

What could the problem be?

Hi Fodor,

This means that something else has alreadt grabbed port 80, the port that Apache Listens to to receive connections from browsers.

To find out what app has grabbed port 80, do this using the wampmanager menus

- wampmanager -> Apache -> Test Port 80.

It should open up a dos box and show you the name of the app that is using port 80.

If its not obvious what to do, tell us what the window says.

Sorry to hop on this thread, but I am having the same issue. The Icon is orange and I can't get it to work. I know Apache isn't working. When testing port 80 I find that

"Your port 80 is acutally used by :
Server: MIcrosoft-IIS/8.5"

I have no idea what this means or what I am supposed to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi SEH

Ok so that means your system has Microsoft IIS installed or one of the other bits of MS technology that reports that signature, they are doing that on later versions of Windows for some reason.
If you are not intending to use it you can uninstall it, it is not an integral part of windows so its being uninstalled wont effect normal operations of windows,
and if you need to install it again later, it comes as part of the standard OS so you wont need to do anything perticularly clever.

So go to Start -> Control Panel -> Programs and Features
Click the 'Turn windows features on and off' link in the left hand menu.
Wait for the list to load and then find 'Internet Information Services'

Un check the check boxes for the following items ( you may not see all of them ), and there may be others I done know about. You may have all of these or just some of these.

1. IIS
2. Web Deploy 2.0 (Web Deployment Agent Service)
3. MS Sql Server Reporting service.
4. BranchCache ( Windows 8.1 )
5. SQL Server VSS Writer

List of possible service names not sure how up to date this is.
Tutorial on how to find what ports are in use on your system and what app is using them

Windows will then have a think for a while and then remove those applications, you will probably be asked to reboot to complete the uninstalls.
Reboot anyway when the uninstalls are complete.

Then try wamp again.

Alternativeley just disable it/them.

Start -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services

Find IIS in the list of services.
Left Click that line and select Properties
Change the 'Startup Type' to disabled.
Ditto for the other possibilities if you see them.

Skype!!! The problem as it turns out is that I had installed Skype. You have to configure Skype so it does not block.

It's been several days and so forgot what I did in Skype, but you can google it,
