New/Clean install - problems with icon items

Installed WAMP v3.0.4 (64 bit) on a new Windows Server 2012R2.

Installed to D:\WAMP\

Install went with no problem, but when I try to open text files with the WAMP icon in the system tray (httpd.conf, Apache Error Log, PHP.ini, my.ini, etc) I get the error:

Could not execute menu item (internal error) [Exception] Could not execute run action: The system cannot find the file specified

It seems everything else works. The files are actually in the correct place, but it seems WAMP is looking in the wrong place to open them.

Any ideas? (Thanks in Advance!)

Hi,

Icon Wampmanager, even if not green:
- Icon -> Apache -> Version -> 2.4.18 (Click on 2.4.18 even if already checked)
- Icon -> PHP -> Version -> Click on version already checked

Both check boxes were already green - clicked them....no change. Restarted All Services. No change.

Hi,

Download [wampserver.aviatechno.net] then execute as an administrator.

Does items others than "text edit" work ?
- localhost
- PhpMyAdmin

- Did you choose text editor when you install Wampserver ?
- Does notepad.exe exists in your system ?

Well localhost and phpmyadmin was working but I just rebooted and now I get "you don't have permission to access this server".

I don't recall having to choose an editor during the install. Yes, notepad exists and works on the system (I can open httpd.conf manually).

Perhaps I should uninstall/reinstall ?

Hi,

> Perhaps I should uninstall/reinstall ?
I think.

- Uninstall Wampserver.
- Verify that install folder is deleted
- Verify that the two services wampapache64 and wampmysqld64 are deleted

Verify that all needed VC++ packages are installed : point # 20 of TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS
You can use a tool to verify this point : Checks VC++ packages installed

You can also verify point # 03 and 08 of TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS

- Install Wampserver 3.0.4 "as an administrator"

Ok, almost ready to cry...

Complete uninstall - services were removed, files/folder gone.
Rebooted
Install ALL 32/64 bit prereq's
Rebooted
Install 32 bit version of WAMP

Same thing - cannot open text files from tray icon.

It seems things I change manually in the files work after restarting services, so I may just let it go - but it stinks when something isn't working 100% - always makes me worried.

IIS isn't even installed, and this is a server, so Skype is not installed either. (Server 2012R2).

Hi,

Where is located Notepad.exe ?

In wamp/wampmanager.conf fille, try to replace

editor = "notepad.exe"
By
editor = "c:/Windows/notepad..exe"

Save the modified file.

Right-click Wampmanager tray icon -> Refresh

Be sure that is the full path of Notepad.exe with / instead of \
