Dear Users,

I am unable to start Apache services after installing WAMP5 1.6.1

Can someone help me to start Apache service?

You certainly don't give us enough to go on.

Any previous installations of Apache?
What type computer: PC? Running Win XP?
If so you want to go the the Control Panel, Performance and Maintenance, Administrative Tools, Services.

Check that you do not have an independant Apache server running. Also verify that that wampapache and wampmysqld are showing up and running.

I've had this problem for a day now and people keep talking about some software called skype being the culprit (no clue what that is, but it's not on my machine).

What I found was when wamp asks you for your default browser, you can't pick anything other than IE (even though Firefox is my default browser). Once I had installed/uninstalled 10 or 12 times (each time picking Firefox), I thought I'd give IE a fair shot. Surprise, it worked the first time and now Apache starts/stops/restarts without a single problem.
