mod_wsgi Python on WAMP

I'm trying to run python on WAMP, but WAMP won't restart when I configured to load the module.

I'm doing this method:
[stackoverflow.com]

Downloaded the mod binaries from here:

added the loadmodule statement in the apache config
LoadModule wsgi_module modules/mod_wsgi.so

I'm on win8 64 bit (but installed WAMP 32) and need Python version 2.6, so I tried each of the 2.6 versions, rebooting wamp each time, but wamp won't fully start. Icon stays orange.

Totally stuck here. Ideas anyone?
