localhost shows up blank

I've searched the forum, but nothing seems to work.

I've just downloaded WAMP (and am a newbie to PHP). I kept the localhost on the /www folder, and set my default browser to be firefox. I saved the basic phpinfo.php file in /www, and tried to find it in my browser.

I've gone to [localhost], nothing. I've clicked the Localhost button on the WAMP5 taskbar icon, nothing. I've tried sticking in simple html files in /www and finding them local host -- nothing at all.

As far as I can see everything is turned on (and I hit "Start all services"winking smiley.

Why doesn't this work?

All help much appreciated,
Mary

Not sure what you are doing here with the "basic phpinfo.php file".

When you install WAMP, you simply install it to your C: drive. It creates a folder called Wamp. Inside that folder it also creates the www folder (along with a bunch of other files).

When it's installed correctly, the taskbar icon allows you to go directly to [localhost]
assuming you are not running IIS. If you are, you may have to change the port for one or the other. For example, I run a CF development server and have had to designate it as [localhost], to keep Wamp at [localhost].

Why are you looking for the "basic phpinfo.php file"?
