Hi,

> Name of module error: MSVCR110.dll Version: 11.0.51106.1
May be reinstall then repair VC 2012 redistribuable packages:
Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012 Update 4 (x86 and x64)
see point N°20 of TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS for the download link or [wampserver.aviatechno.net]

At the same time, always on [wampserver.aviatechno.net], you can download and run the audit tool for installations of VC packages.

Also Flash drives are USB right. USB is not as fast a transfer speed as a real hard disk

how can you check a usb disk for being able to support SYMLINKS?

Should I ask the manufacturer or is there a tool to test it?

I assume it runs because I reinstalled WAMP and before it I formatted it NTFS.

WAMP does work, mostoften but not always. One strange thing from this is that WAMP works sometimes and then it is out.

This gives the impression not always the same start up sequence is done.

Hi,

On your usb disk, within a command windows do:
dir /al
All symbolic links will be shown.

This is not easy to understand for me.

If WAMP starts up normally to a green icon then everything is working well.
But the next day (or reboot) WAMP doesnt start up.
What has changed then?

How can Visual Studio packages just dissappear?
And why wouldnt SYMLINKS be built?

Hi,

> If WAMP starts up normally to a green icon then everything is working well.
A green icon means that only the two services "wampapache" and "wampmysqld" (or "wampapache64" and "wampmysqld64" for 64-bit) are started.

To verify that the symbolic links are created, it is necessary to check:
- No error message at the bottom of the home page Wampserver (localhost)
- No error message in the file php_error.log

> But the next day (or reboot) WAMP doesnt start up.
> What has changed then?
Only you can know what has changed on your system. You have to look for errors in log files and in Event Viewer.

> And why wouldnt SYMLINKS be built?
Depending on the permissions and "owner" of the disk and also to be in an administrator session.

Otomatic, forgive me all my questions, I really will follow your recommendations if I have to.

What bothers me is that I had WAMP running on a USB disk 2 days ago. This means that it runs well on this disk doesnt it?

Now I have only one installation and the same one is now down with orange icon.

Should I really consider an installation on a hard disk?

What exactly can happen when the USB disk is not supporting SYMLINKS?

Another possibility!

When you insert your USB Stick, DOES IT GET ALLOCATED THE SAME DRIVE LETTER EVERY TIME ???

If WAMPServer was installed when it was allocated as F: for example, if will not work if next time it gets allocated as the E: or any other drive letter other than F:

Hi,

This is a symlink in Apache2.4.x/bin/ to the file in php/phpx.y.z /

If when Wampserver was installed into USB key, the drive letter was h: it must be always h: today, tomorrow, next month, next year.... always

okay I want it to be that way.

when I read the error logs I find every time two errors.

One of the dll files is from windows dll; location: Pad naar module met fout: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll

reading internet I found out that some people with the same problem copied php5ts.dll in php5.dll. But this caused another dll file could not be executed. Maybe when the windows dll files contains numerous links to other files I might be having to change / copy loads of filenames.

It is possible that I uninstalled the former version wrong (not with uninstall in the wamp dir)

I now have wamp installed at H: but I had it at I: before.

I'm not experienced with changing dll files, but is it necessary to do it in this case?
Or is there an easier solution, like uninstall the proper way? Then reinstall?

EDIT:

I checked for SYMLINKS at the WAMP USB disk, while I had not started WAMP.

it gave the following output:

H:\>dir /AL /S h:\
Volume in drive H is WAMP2016
Volume Serial Number is A457-1B90

What about my other questions?
can I replace the ntdll.dll file?

[quote/The ntdll.dll file is a file created by Microsoft that has a description of "NT Layer DLL" and is the file that contains NT kernel functions.[/quote]

So be very careful messing with that.

php5ts is the PHP compiler compiled as a dll in thread safe mode and is used by WAMPServer as Windows is a threaded OS

php5 is the PHP compiler compiled as a dll in non thread safe mode and not used by WAMPServer. It would be used if you wanted to run PHP as in CGI or FASTCGI mode, but we dont

===============================================================

Maybe we should START think about this logically

If you install WAMPServer on a normal physical disc lets say C: does WAMPServer work without all these problems or not?

If it does (and it does for 1000's of other people all over the world) then all these issues are related to :-

1. Installing on a thumb drive
2. Your specific thumb drive
3. Things you are doing you dont feel are relevant to tell us that may be causing issues
4. Your specific PC
5. Your specific windows installation i.e. something is hinky that is being exposed by using :-
-- a) WampServer
-- b) SYMLINKS for the first time
-- c) Any number of other possibilities.

Would you start the analysis for us by uninstalling WAMPServer (properly using Windows Uninstall) and then removing the thumb drive.

Then install WAMPServer onto your C: or D: drive

Then do some simple tests to see if it runs correctly, or has the same issues.

Once we know the result of this first test we can proceed, with the assumption that there are no obvious issues with your PC or your Windows Installation.

Hi,

> What about my other questions? can I replace the ntdll.dll file?
It is a Windows system dll file, not a Wampserver file.

A dll file can not be replaced "like that". In addition, there is a file used by the system can therefore be replaced by Windows.

You encounter too many problems after installing Wampserver on a USB key and I do not want to spend time on problems you create.
Install Wampserver on a not removable hard disk that will has ALWAYS the same drive letter.
