Hi,
I had wamp installed on my PC (win 7) than I updated to win 8 and the wamp icon won't turn green.. When I try to access localhost in firefox I get a blank page, no error.

What should I do to fix this ?

Thanks smiling smiley

Check your HOSTS file. Not sure about the W8 final release but the previews had the localhost address commented out.

Make sure you have the

127.0.0.1 localhost

line in there, and not commented out by the '#' character.

Bought and installed Win8 today, same problem but found a solution.

Go to wamp tray: Apache->Service->Test Port 80
In my case IIS8.0 was using Port 80 already.

Deactivating the Service WWW-Publishing (german version) did it.

Install TeamViewer and I will troubleshoot for you.

Install TV, then run it.

Then - Send me a Private Message containing the TV ID and PASSWORD so I can connect.
Leave TV running as it will change the password each time you restart it.

I am on UK time (GMT) and am normally available 09:00 - 16:00 and normally later into the evening.

I had the same problem. After searching for answers and trying tips I found, nothing worked. I finally deleted the install and reinstalled using the 32bit version. When I was prompted to choose a browser, I went to the Windows/Program Files (x86) and selected Mozilla Firefox from there (not the default browser offered). That really is all I did and the good news is that it works perfectly.

If you UPGRADE W7 to W8 OR W8 to W8.1 it will do 2 things that will effect WAMP ( Apache )

1. It will more than likely install IIS which will grab port 80 before you can start WAMP.
If you are not using IIS then uninstall it. (google to find out how)

2. It will delete the wampapache and wampmysql services.
To get these back do :-

make a new icon of \wamp\wampmanager.exe ( if it has also been deleted) on your desktop or whereever you like it to be

run
wampmanager -> Apache -> Service -> Install Service
wampmanager -> MySQL -> Service -> Install Service
