I have no system tray!

Hi all,

I'm new to PHP and have just installed WAMP Server.

Problem is, I don't use the standard windows shell and, thus, have no access to any kind of system tray. I understand that this is where the settings for the program are located. I run the program and nothing happens.

Is there another way to launch it? Maybe a command I can use from the run menu?

Cheers,
Dave

I have no idea.

Can you answer these questions please READ THIS BEFORE YOU ASK A QUESTION

Just because I am interested, why are you not using the standard windows configuration?
And what configuration are you using?

<Apache versions MULTIPE> <PHP versions MULTIPLE> <MySQL Versions MULTIPLE>
<MariaDB versions MULTIPLE> <phpMyAdmin versions MULTIPLE> <MySQL Workbench 8.0.23>

Read The Manuals Apache -- MySQL -- PHP -- phpMyAdmin
Get your Apache/MySQL/mariaDB/PHP ADDONs here from the WAMPServer alternate Repo

Version of Operating system? - Windows 7
Version of Wamp Server installed? - 2.5
Version of Apache you are running? - 2.4.9
Version of MySQL you are running? - Unknown?
Version of PHP you are running? - 5.5.12
What colour is your WampManager icon? ( the in the system tray ) - Can't see it.
Do you have a HOSTS file? [c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts] - Yes. No entries.

I'm using a custom exe that runs instead, as it's more efficient to my workflow and I've made it so all my apps and regularly used items are available quicker.

OK so how do you currently get to things that woudl normally sit in the system tray?

What do you actually want to be able to do with WAMPServer? i.e. are you trying to see the wampmanager icon and all its useful menus or do you just want to be able to start the APache and MySQL services from the command line.

I basically use no software which uses the system tray so have no need to see it. I switch between programs using ALT+Tab but WAMP does not show up in this list, despite being visible in the task manager. I simply want to run and interact with WAMP but have no way to do it. Is there a way to run/launch it independent of the system tray?

Hi,

No.
WampServer is an application designed entirely with Aestan Tray Menu. It therefore can not be used without the System Tray.
