Php dosn't work ?

I just installed WAMP, and it seems that php dosn't work.

<?
echo 'foo';
?>

the source gives me
<?
echo "foo";
?>


Do you know what could be the problem ?

make sure 1) wampserver is turned on (all services running).
2) the php file is stored at www directory.
3) you use [localhost] open the php file.

I have installed the wamp5 software, but my skill with mysql is limited. I have done it once but found a checklist, which i can't find now. Do you have a good checklist for setting up the wamp server that includes, mysql, php. I will also install moodle. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Garry
