403 Forbidden - Even after "Put Online"

As it says. I spent probably an hour trying to figure out why the "put online" system-tray menu wasn't actually opening up the server to the wider world.

Ended up having to edit Apache's config manually, which will work for now.

But it would be nice if I could figure out what's actually wrong and fix it.

Thanks.

Please read this "Wampserver 2.4 What to do after Installing" [forum.wampserver.com]

It contains fixes and lots of useful amendments to the 2.4 release. Including a fix for the Put Online issue.

You should have this in HOSTS file

127.0.0.1 localhost
::1            localhost

*Looks at that thread.*
*Tries to locate the piece of advice you just gave*
*Cannot find it*

I also don't know WHY that change would result in the behavior that I need. Which, surprise, surprise, it does not. The put offline/online still does didly squat.

I remember reading over that section before, but I'll give it another go.
