My computer is Windows 7 Professional
Installed WAMP 2.5 (latest as of May 26, 2014)
Per the WAMP installation:
Apache: 2.4.9
PHP: 5.5.12
MySQL: 5.6.17
When I type c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts into my browser I get:
# Copyright (c) 1993-2009 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
# localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
# 127.0.0.1 localhost
# ::1 localhost
127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.0.1 localhost

Hello, i am completely new to all this. I have installed WAMP only to evaluate a local install of Wordpress. In order to install and evaluate Wordpress plugins, I need to have a local install. Based on this page, [
www.wpbeginner.com] I have downloaded and installed WAMP. I got the MSVCR100.DLL error but fixed it, per your sticky and reinstalled WAMP.
When I run WAMP, my icon is red.
When I click localhost or PHPMyAdmin I get a blank screen in my browser.
Thus I cannot continue with the instructions in the above page on installing Wordpress.
Your help is appreciated on how I move forward. As mentioned, all I'm trying to do is get a local Wordpress installation going.
Steve
