Problem opening projects

Hi y'all.

First,
I'm operating on Windows 8.1.
I have Wamp 2.5.
I have Apache 2.4.9.
I have MySQL 5.6.17
I have PHP 5.5.12
My WampManager icon is green.
I have a hosts file, whose entries related to localhost read:

# localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
# 127.0.0.1 localhost
# ::1 localhost

127.0.0.1 localhost

I just downloaded wamp and have begun a project using it. When I navigate to localhost, I have no troubles and I see my project folder within the www directory. However, when I click to open that folder (or manually navigate to it's location via the address bar) I am returned the error: "Oops! Google Chrome could not find (project folder name)". I have also tried using internet explorer to open the project, and was returned a similar error.

As per suggestions from a different site, I tried editing Chromes LAN settings under proxy settings under advanced settings. Originally "Automatically detect settings" was checked and proxy server was unchecked. I tried unchecking Automatically detect settings and checking "Use a proxy server for your LAN..." with a checkmark on "Bypass proxy server for local addresses". Neither settings configurations ended up fixing my problem.

Any help here would be greatly appreciated.
