setting up wordpress for offline view?

Hello,
I just downloaded WAMP and the virtual server works well. I started it up and immediately saw the placeholder server configuration page. All seems great at this point.

My end goal is to have a version of a wordpress website we made viewable offline via this wamp server. I duplicated the wordpress site and uploaded it to the server. I took the original files that were in the server, and put them in a folder named "test".

Now when I go to view the [localhost] it never loads. it just says waiting for the local host to respond.

What did I do wrong and how should I fix it?

Thanks,
Mike

Hello Mike,

Do a google search for 'Wordpress move site' You should find lots of help.

Its not quite as simple as youu may hope as WP keep the site url and other bits in its database, but the search should give you the info you need.

Hello again wamp users. I now have my wordpress site installed in the www directory. When I go to the local host site is shows the site under my projects.

Thats awesome. So far so good. Now to make the site work I need to know where to go to find the server info and such. Can anyone point me in the right direction for that?

Thanks.

-Mike
