i installed wampserver 2.4 in my windows 7 today but any php program i write in www directory is not working . its showing 'server error in application default website ' n http error 404.0 not found etc. and when i open the local host its showing a page of internet information service. please help

That looks like you have IIS running on that PC.
If you are not using IIS it is best to uninstall it, if you are using IIS and want to use WAMPServer i.e. Apache as well then it is best to disable the IIS services.
What colour is your wampmanager icon that sits in the system tray? If its not green then IIS has probably grabbed port 80 before Apache can be started, and thats why localhost does not show the WAMP home page.
