Connecting to database with WAMP Server 2 and Dreamweaver CS6

Hi. I'm running Wamp Server 2.2 on Windows 7, 64 bit system.
Able to access PHPMyAdmin and Localhost without any problem.

When I try to set up a MySQL connection in Dreamweaver CS6, where I put localhost for MySQL server, Root for username, and leave password blank, I don't see all of my databases listed. I do see a couple of them (test and information_schema), and I'm able to successfully connect with those.

If I type in the name of one of the other databases (MyDcool smiley I can access from my PHPMyAdmin page and test that, I get a MySQL Error 1044: access denied for user @localhost to MyDB.

I haven't used WAMP much - any suggestions how to get this working with Dreamweaver would be appreciated.

Is there a way for me to verify that another mysql instance is running?
I just tried it again now and get the same problem - where I only see a subset of my databases available in Dreamweaver (2 of the 5 I can access in phpMyAdmin).

The connections for the two databases in the Dreamweaver dropdown panel work.

I looked in windows task manager and don't see an extra copy of WAMP running (and I don't have Aquia Devel Desktop or Filezilla running - not sure if they'd create any conflict)

Is there a way to see if I set a password for WAMP?
(I had gone through a couple of efforts to install and uninstall wamp server and in at least one of those efforts I'd created a password - don't recall if that was through modifying Apache httpd.conf or a different file

I've also set up localhost:8080 in the past - right now I think it's just regular localhost (that's how I make my connection to phpMyAdmin) but didn't know if I could have any residual from prior installs messing stuff up.

Tried creating a new database and table in PhpMyAdmin and that does not show up in my dreamweaver selectable list.

I also noticed on the lynda.com tutorial for using WAMP and dreamweaver, they use "root" with lowercase r as username and I get a #1045 MySQL Errow - Access denied for user 'root' @ localhost (using password: NO)

Thank you; that's very helpful.
I installed Team Viewer and have it open on my desktop. Let me know what I have to do next.

Steven - thank you so much for that help. I was trying to go through a tutorial so I could learn some database stuff on my own, but that failure to connect stopped me cold.

I'll give it another try now.

Thanks again.
